Embracing Autumn
You may have guessed from our artwork and previous blogs that we're summer people really. The feeling of the warm sun on your skin is hard to beat. The freedom of wearing flip flops is something to cherish. Our summer wardrobe is the one that makes us feel our very best.
However, there's no getting away from the fact that summer's gone and autumn is most definitely here. Flip flops and sunhats have been packed away for another year. It's time to pile on the layers, the chunky knits and woolly hats. But how to do it without sinking into an autumnal gloom as grey as the sky overhead?
Here are our 5 things to love about autumn:
1. Colours
Nature has a way of reminding us that it evolves constantly. The autumnal colour palette of reds, oranges, yellows and browns is one such reminder, and a beautiful one at that. Summer's lush green grass now has a newly-laid carpet of leaves. It's new season styling at its very best.
2. Crunch
And those fallen leaves provide the perfect opportunity for behaving like a small child. Like Peppa Pig's pull to a muddy puddle, jumping in a pile of crunchy leaves brings a big smile to your face - whatever your age. Kick them in the air. Jump on top of them. That seasonal crunch of leaves underfoot is so satisfying.
3. Cosy Fabrics
Putting on a super soft, comfy knit is like being enveloped in a warm hug. Snuggle up and enjoy the feeling.
4. Comfort Food
Apple pie, a slow-cooked stew, a hearty roast - tis the season to enjoy warming, comforting dishes with a side serve of nostalgia. Sausages by the bonfire anyone?
5. Christmas Is Coming
It does seem to come earlier every year, but once the first frost has passed it's ok to mention the C word. Soon sleigh bells will be ringing and reindeers will be in full flight. Try not to get stressed about it, and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year with childlike glee.
